Electronics and Communication Engineers work in areas like data, audio and video processing, data sensing and storage, design and production of electronic circuits and systems, antenna and electromagnetic wave theory and applications, physics and production of semiconducting electronic elements.

There are a total of 761.000 publications available in the central ITU Mustafa İnan Library. The library provides access to a total of about 15.000 books, 210 printed journals, 9.500 online books and 680 online journals in the Electronics and Communication Engineering area.

Currently there are a total of 26 professors, 14 associate professors, 7 assistant professors, 5 lecturers, and 40 research assistants at the Electronics and Communications Engineering Department.

Many of undergraduate students find part-time employment at various ITU departments, such as the IT facilities or the library. There are also some students who are employed in the various companies located in the ITU ARI Teknokent facilities in the ITU Ayazaga Campus.

As of December 2016, there are 1165 BSc, 459 MSc and 152 PHd students are registered to our undergraduate and graduate programs.

The educational objectives of the Programs of the ECE Department are to graduate individuals:

1. Understand science and engineering principles, and use these principals with modern engineering tools to design engineering systems,
2. Continuously expand their knowledge and skills, to conduct advanced research and to develop novel technologies in electronics and communication engineering,
3. Have self confidence and communication skills to serve at national and international levels, to build successful careers,
4. Have professional awareness for ethical and social issues.

The approximate capacity of our on-campus residences is 3700. You can apply to ITU Residences Office to live on campus.

You can individually apply to any ECE-related firm by yourself. Most of the firms start to accept intern applications by March-April. You can also work on campus for a duration of a month. Please read our summer-practice/intern pages (in Turkish).
