Purpose of the Laboratory

The purpose of this laboratory is to put into practice the theoretical knowledge gained in the Introduction to Electronics or Fundamentals of Electronics courses, to help students develop their hands-on skills, and to reinforce what they have learned. The laboratory also provides students with a workspace for project courses and senior design (capstone) projects.

Mission of the Laboratory

The mission of the laboratory is to train students who can design and carry out an experiment and who can see the relationship and differences between theory and practice. The laboratory is used for the compulsory course EHB 311 Introduction to Electronics in the following programs: Electronics and Communication Engineering (ITU), Computer Engineering (ITU), Computer Engineering (ITU-TRNC), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ITU-TRNC), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ITU-NJIT), and Electronics and Communication Engineering (ITU-International University of Sarajevo). The course is offered in the Fall semester to the Computer Engineering programs and in the Spring semester to the other programs.

Application Areas

  • Linear power supplies
  • Power supply design
  • Semiconductor device characterization (BJT, MOSFET)
  • Amplifier and operational amplifier circuits
  • Digital logic and memory fundamentals

Laboratory Facilities

The laboratories consist of two halls located on a total area of 36x10 m², allowing a maximum of 64 students to perform experiments at the same time. In addition to standard equipment, the laboratory has high-end instruments for use in research and development: three Agilent/Keysight digital oscilloscopes (600 MHz/350 MHz/100 MHz), a spectrum analyzer with 2 GHz bandwidth, and a 34-channel logic analyzer.

Researcher Information

Lab Manager: Lecturer Dr. Ali Bahadır

The laboratory is staffed by 3 faculty members, 8/10 research assistants, and 1 technician. The laboratories also support undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students of the department in their research and development activities.
